Savlon Advanced Healing Gel Wound treatment for superficial burns and minor wounds, e.g. grazes and cuts.Savlon Advanced Healing Gel is a hydroactive colloid gel for the treatment of wounds, which supports the healing of skin by covering the wound and creating an optimal moist healing environment.
Savlon Advanced Healing Gel is for use on superficial burns and minor wounds, e.g. grazes and cuts. Savlon Advanced Healing Gel may also be used in open wounds (without substantial breach of the dermis) and superficial bedsores (only under supervision of a doctor or nurse).
Savlon Advanced Healing Gel contains a hydrocolloid (PH = 5.5) which helps to create optimal moist healing conditions to accelerate cell renewal and so reduces the likelihood of scarring. Furthermore, Savlon Advanced Healing Gel helps to soothe and quickly reduces pain due to its cooling effect.
Savlon Advanced Healing Gel can be used for a dry or moist wound:
In case of a dry wound, Savlon Advanced Healing Gel turns the dry wound into a moist one ("hydrogel" effect). The dry wound absorbs the water contained in Savlon Advanced Healing Gel and promotes the dissolution of necrotic/damaged tissue.
In case of a moist wound, the hydrocolloid of Savlon Advanced Healing Gel is activated and consequently Savlon Advanced Healing Gel absorbs excessive fluid from the wound and restores the water balance in the wound ("hydrocolloid" effect).
Do not use on extensive weeping or infected wound unless recommended by your doctor. Wash hands before and after treating the wound. Clean and dry the wound gently before applying the gel.
For superficial burns and minor wounds: Carefully apply Savlon Advanced Healing Gel to the wound, without rubbing, once or twice per day (in case of sunburn apply twice to six times daily). If necessary, cover the wound with a plaster or dressing and change daily.
For open wounds (without substantial breach of the dermis) and superficial bedsores (only under supervision of a doctor or nurse): Apply a thick layer of Savlon Advanced Healing Gel (5mm) onto the wound avoiding the wound edges. Cover Savlon Advanced Healing Gel with a sterile non-adhesive dressing and fax with gauze or a bandage. Leave Savlon Advanced Healing Gel in place as long as the gel structure is intact.
-Open wounds: change daily
-Superficial bedsores: change daily or every two days
Important
When new skin cells start to form and the wound is closing, only apply a thin layer of Savlon Advanced Healing Gel to prevent weakening. If necessary, protect the wound edges.
