Daktarin Cream is used to treat infections of the skin which may appear on the hands, feet, outer ear, trunk groin or scalp. It is also used to treat infected nappy rash and infections of nails.
Daktarin Cream works by destroying the fungus that causes the infection and some of the bacterial which may also be present
Each time you use the cream :
Wash the infected skin and dry it well. As many skin conditions are infectious, you should keep a towel and a flannel for your own use so that you do not infect anyone else. For skin infections :
Apply Daktarin Cream to the affected area twice daily, e.g. at night and in the morning
For nail infections :
Apply once or twice daily to the affected area. Rub Daktarin Cream gently into the affected area and surrounding skin with clean fingers
After applying the cream :
Unless the infected skin is on your hands, wash your hands carefully to avoid spreading the infection to other parts of the body or to other people. Similarly, clothing which comes into contact with the infected areas should be washed and changed frequently.
Daktarin Cream is non-greasy and should not stain clothes.
Relief from the symptoms may occur quickly but it is important that you continue to use Daktarin Cream for up to 10 days after the symptoms have cleared to prevent them from coming back.
Remember - if your doctor has prescribed medicine it is for you only, never give it to anyone else. It may harm them even if their symptoms are the same as yours.Interactions
Do not use Daktarin Cream if you think that you may have had an allergic reaction to any form of Daktarin, any of the inactive ingredients, or a similar antifungal in the past. An allergic reaction may be recognised as a rash or itching at the site of infection which gets worse after applying Daktarin Cream.
Do not put Daktarin Cream into the eyes - it is for application to the skin and nails onlyIf you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast feeding, you should talk to your doctor who will decide if you can use Daktarin Cream.If you forget to use your cream, do not apply the missed dose, but apply the next dose as usual and continue your course of medicine.
Accidental swallowing of Daktarin Cream is normally harmless but you should contact your doctor as a precaution.
Daktarin Cream is usually well tolerated. Occasionally, irritation of the skin may occur. If the irritation is severe, stop using the cream and talk to your doctor.In rare cases, itching and redness following each application may indicate an allergy to the medicineWarningAs with all medicines, keep out of reach of children

Each gram of Daktarin Cream contains 20mg of Miconazole Nitrate. The cream also contains the following inactive ingredients :
Water, Macrogaol and Glycol Stearate, Peglicol Oleate, Liquid Paraffin, Benzoic Acid and Butylated Hydroxtanisole
