Cymex Ultra is used to treat cold sores of the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus. Aciclovir has been shown to speed up the healing process of cold sore blisters, if it used soon enough.
Cymex Ultra is for use on the skin only. It is not to be taken orally.
*Wash your hands. *Apply a thin film of Cymex Ultra to the infected skin, and the skin immediately next to it, using your fingertip. Take care not to rub the infected skin any more than you need to. *You should apply Cymex Ultra to the infected area 5 times each day, at intervals of about 4 hours. * Wash your hands again. Herpes simplex is infectious and you should try to avoid touching the infected skin with your hands or with towels, to prevent spreading the infection.
*You should continue to use your cream for 5 days. If infection has not healed after this time, treatment can be continued for up to 5 more days.
*If your skin infection does not get better after ten days of treatment or gets worse at any time, tell your doctor as soon as possible.
If you answer YES to any of the following questions, or are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine
*Have you been told, or do you know, that you have had a reaction to acyclovir, or any of the other ingredients of the cream? Check by reading the list of ingredients. *Are you pregnant or breast feeding? *Do you have a weak immune system, for example after chemotherapy or radiotherapy, or due to immune deficiency disease or following transplant surgery?
If you are not sure that your symptoms are caused by a cold sore, then please consult your doctor or pharmacist before use.
The active ingredient is aciclovir.
