Covonia Throat Spray 30ml can be used by diabetics. In cases of bacterial infection accompanied by fever, additional treatment is necessary (see your doctor for further advice).
Avoid use if you have a history of significant allergy.
Limit use of the spray to the strictly necessary relief of pain and irritation. Do not use for long periods, either continuously or repeatedly.
Each 5ml of spray contains 1.75g of ethanol. Ethanol may be harmful for those suffering from liver disease, alcoholism, epilepsy or brain injury or disease. It may modify the effects of other medicines.
Please read the enclosed leaflet very carefully before use.
Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years:
3 to 5 sprays, 6 to 10 times per day.
Not suitable for under 12s.
Do not exceed the stated dose.
If used as directed, the risk of an overdose is very small. However, if you accidentally take too much see a doctor straight away.
See a doctor if you have trouble breathing or swallowing.
Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Consult a doctor before use if:
-Your sore throat is severe, or has lasted for more than 2 days or is accompanied by high fever, headache, nausea or vomiting.
-You are taking any of the following drugs: beta blockers or other antiarrhythmics (e.g. propanolol or mexiletine), ulcer healing drugs (e.g. cimetidine), drugs which help remove water including acetazolamide, loop diuretics or thiazides, anti-epileptic drugs (e.g. phenytoin or other barbiturates).
Lidocaine in the spray may interact with these drugs.
The active ingredients of this product are chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% w/v and lidocaine hydrochloride 0.05% w/v.
It also contains: menthol eucalyptol, glycerol (E422), sodium saccharin, citric acid (E330), ethanol and purified water.
