Benadryl Allergy Relief capsules contain Acrivastine which is an antihistamine. It provides effective relief from the symptoms of hayfever and similar allergic conditions. It is also used to treat allergic skin reactions These include urticaria, also known as hives, where the skin looks blotchy, like nettle rash, with white raised wheals (bumps), surrounded by redness.
Drug Interacton Precautions : Benadryl Allergy Relief is suitable for most people, but a few people should not take it. Ask yourself the following questions to check whether Benadryl is suitable for you.
* Have you ever had a reaction to acrivastine contained in Benadryl Allergy Relief, any of its ingredients or the antihistamine triprolidine?
* Are you pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breast-feeding?
* Are you taking any sedatives or tranquillizers?
* Do you have kidney disease?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Benadryl Allergy Relief. This medicine is not suitable for use in the elderly (over 65 years) and children under 12 years. Most people do not become drowsy when they take Benadryl Allergy Relief and it does not affect their ability to drive or operate machinery. However as with other antihistamines you should take care when you first take Benedryl Allergy Relief because there are rare exceptions. You should therefore not drive or operate machinery until you have tried Benadryl Allergy Relief and know whether or not you are affected. If you think you may have to drive or operate machinery whilst taking Benadryl Allergy Relief you should avoid alcoholic drink.
Warning: As with all medicines Benadryl Allergy Relief can cause side effects in some individuals. Effects such as drowsiness are occasionally seen. If you suffer from any unusual effects stop taking Benadryl Allergy Relief and tell your doctor or pharmacist at once.
Adults and children over 12 years: Take one capsule as necessary up to three times a day.
If you accidentally take too many capsules tell your doctor at once. If you can't do this, go to the nearest hospital accident and emergency (casualty) department. Take along any capsules that are left, the container and the label so that the hospital staff can easily tell what medicine you have taken.
If you do not get better, go and see your doctor.
Each capsule contains: Acrivastine 8.0 mg.
Also contains: Lactose, Sodium Starch Glycollate, Magnesium Stearate, gelatin, colouring (E171) and purified water.
Benadryl Allergy Relief is available in blister packs of 12 and 14 capsules.
